Over the years, the Women’s Innovation Group has hosted a variety of empowering programs and workshops designed to support women in business, members of the community, and beyond.
While these offerings may no longer be active, their influence continues to shape our community.
The Technical Program caters to high school students and individuals re-entering society committed to completing the program successfully. To ensure top-notch quality, the program maintains a low student-to-instructor ratio, limiting class sizes to 15 students. The course is led by experienced instructors with a background in the IT field, facilitating a conducive learning environment. Post-completion of the program and certification attainment, each student will receive assistance in job placement.
The Fast Track IT Program is a specialized initiative designed to impart knowledge to students on cutting-edge technology applications, terminology, and industry standards essential for aspiring IT professionals. This program offers a comprehensive curriculum that equips individuals with the skills required to pursue rewarding careers in the IT sector, providing a pathway to employment opportunities upon successful completion of the certification. In today's job market, IT skills are crucial, with proficiency in applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint being standard requirements across various industries. Moreover, possessing in-depth knowledge of PC functionality and repair is a valuable asset. With the escalating demand for IT positions, this program offers individuals the chance to seize lucrative opportunities in the ever-evolving tech industry. The primary objective of the program is to deliver a high-quality learning experience that prepares students for successful IT careers, enabling them to secure entry-level positions through certification.
Technical Program:
The course was facilitated over 10 weeks. The course was be led by experienced instructors at a level where the students could understand. The curriculum and content were taken directly from the CompTIA A+ book. The lessons within the course ranged from learning the main components of a PC to setting up basic networks. Students also received hands-on experience in the classroom. Including disassembling and reassembling PC’s to become more familiar with components and basic troubleshooting techniques.
The course was designed to be interactive with many visual aids. Practice exams were used to assess the readiness of each student to take
the actual exam. Each student received a book that covered all lessons that were addressed in the course. In addition to this each student received two testing vouchers to take the CompTIA A+ test to become certified. The CompTIA A+ exam is made up of 2(801,802)
exams that cover all material covered in the course. CompTIA A+ certification is a vendor-neutral certification and is required by multiple PC manufacturers to become a service technician. This certification is held by more than 900,000 IT professionals who hold jobs as IT Support Administrators, IT Support Technician, Field Service Technician, and other positions.
